Ignite bridges the gap between regular studio classes and full-time industry training, taking dancers  beyond the classroom into genuine industry experiences.  

Purpose-built to balance school with an age-appropriate level of training, students experience live youth arts productions, professional digital media shoots, audition preparation, and career planning; making Ignite not just a certificate course, but a part-time platform for serious dancers aged 14+ ready to evolve into emerging artists.

  • Certificate III in Dance (CUA30120)

    Certificates are nationally recognised qualification, under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), developed in partnership with Empowerdance RTO 40397. 

    Points or Credits may go towards year 12 Certificate. 

  • Students graduate with a nationally recognised Certificate III in Dance, as well as advanced technical precision, performance quality, and artistic versatility required for higher level training through recognised dance syllabus. 

    CUACHR311 - Develop basic dance composition skills

    CUADAN331 - Integrate rhythm into movement activities 

    CUAIND311 - Work effectively in the creative arts industry 

    CUAPRF317 - Develop performance techniques

    CUAWHS311 - Condition the body for dance performance

    CUAPRF314 - Develop audition techniques

    CUAMWB401 - Develop & implement own self care plan in the creative industries

    CUAIND314 - Plan a career in the creative arts industry

    CUAMUP311 - Prepare person appearance for performances

    BSBTWK201 - Work effectively with others

  • Part-time after school hours and one Friday per fortnight over one and a half years

    Classes are held during QLD school terms.

    Students may also receive performance opportunities and guest workshops which may require additional time commitments. 

  • Entry is by audition or invitation and is best suited to dancers who: 

    - are a  minimum 14 years or older (example in Years 9 or 10 at school) 

    - have a minimum 3 years current dance training

    - are training in a Ballet syllabus and at least two other dance styles

    - thrive in a focused, good work ethic environment;

    - have a  willingness to commit to regular attendance, assessments, and personal growth

  • 8:30am - Students arrive and prepair for their day 

    8:45am - 9:00am  - role call, Intention setting for the day, and mindfulness

    9:00am - 10:00am  warm up, body conditioning,  theory

    10:00am - 10:30am  - Lunch break 

    10:30am - 1:00pm -  technical skills, stagecraft 

    100pm - 1:30pm -  Lunch break

    1:30pm  - 2:45pm - audition prep, deportment 

    2:45pm - 3:00pm - recap, reflect

    3:00pm - finish 

  • Fees are all-inclusive and SDA College offers flexible payment options to support accessibility, including Payment plans. Some students may access VET in Schools funding through their education provider.
